Today I have a gift for you. Since I was a child it has been a treat to hop in the car and head to a favourite beachside restaurant. This restaurant has the most delicious fry sauce and orangeade I have ever tasted. It to me, is the taste of summer. A summer would not be complete for me if I hadn’t gone at least once to sit lakeside fighting the seagulls for the last fry, and sip on a cold orangeade.
I made it a mission to learn how to make that delicious orangeade. It’s not an orange juice and it’s not an orange pop. It sits somewhere in between and has its own distinct flavour. If you’ve had it, you love it. Now you can have it at home!
To make this, is very simple. You need just the basic tool of having something to juice your oranges and lemons with. I use my food processor with my juicer attachment on it. Below is my food processor but you can also get a relatively cheap attachment for the kitchenaid mixer if you have one of those as well.

The secret to giving this drink its distinct taste is the simple syrup. You can make ahead the syrup and keep it in an airtight container in the fridge. This also serves as double purpose if you feed the hummingbirds around your backyard; Some for the bird feeder, and some for your orangeade. The syrup can also be used in several popular bar drinks, so go ahead and make a batch and keep some on hand!
This is a great beverage to treat your summer bbq guests. It’s bright, sweet and full of natural flavour. They will love you and thank you for it! Happy summer everyone.
